April 13th 1993 was the 250th anniversary of the birth of Thomas Jefferson, who was among the most important American leaders, certainly the most versatile. The author of the Declaration of American Independence and the Statute of Virginia for religious freedom, the father of the University of Virginia, and a two term president of the United States, Jefferson was also a loving parent and grandparent, a good friend and neighbor, a farmer, gardener, scientist, and lover of life and all that it provided.
